As EPR Integration Lead you will support the management, development and configuration of the Trust's Integration Engines in order to support all interfacing activities as part of the Trust Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme. Main duties of the job

As EPR Integration Lead you will support the management, development and configuration of the Trust's Integration Engines in order to support all interfacing activities. You will ensure secure and effective transmission of mission critical information between clinical and other information systems, predominantly via HL7 messaging, XML and FHIR / APIs.

You will manage the EPR workstream and will be responsible for day to day operations, meeting operational SLAs and standards across the group.

You will work to achieve agreed objectives, as per trust priorities, and as agreed by the Head of Clinical Systems and the Integration Manager.

You will manage your team's project activity on a daily basis through work planning and prioritisation and delegation, escalating risks and issues where appropriate.

Expert technical knowledge and demonstrable experience of Microsoft SQL Server, HL7 messaging standards and TIE such as Rhapsody will be essential as will significant experience of working in an integration role within the NHS.

Travel to the hospital site will be required.

Main Duties

  • Ensure that improvements are planned to maintain systems that are reliable and resilient, and that robust arrangements for maintenance are in place and regularly assessed.

  • Lead on business cases and support longer term business planning for the implementation and strategic development of electronic patient records and diagnostic systems within the Trust.
  • Negotiate with external organisations over service issues where the issue may be highly complex e.g. third-party suppliers, other NHS organisations, to ensure any outstanding issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the Trust.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective integration of the clinical applications with other systems with the aim of maximising the efficiency of the clinical workflow overall, and longer-term business planning.
  • You will lead on the development and on-going refinement of business continuity and disaster recovery plans in relation to all EPR integration flows supported by the team.

  • Modify/develop SQL databases/SSIS packages that are used as part of interfacing processes.

Technical Service Delivery

  • Using your expert knowledge of integration and information flows and the legislative framework that surround their use, you will lead the investigation and resolution of highly complex service issues / faults.
  • You will provide a robust support service, ensuring systems are in place to track all incidents in accordance with ITIL good practice.
  • You will ensure that all departmental processes adhere to the group 2nd and 3rd line incident and problem management policies and processes, ensuring an effective and timely response is achieved with excellent ongoing communication throughout.
