Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced, flexible and reliable individual to join our Hyper Acute Stroke Team ( Benham ward) as a deputy ward manager to provide high quality patient care and a motivational leadership and support to our Team.

We are a busy 21 bedded Hyper Acute Stroke unit providing critical care for stroke patients predominantly for the first 72 hours post stroke.

The post holder will be an expert in the Hyper Acute Stroke Care, be required to work clinical shifts as well as providing managerial cover and be an integral leader for our well established and committed team. In return we will be offering you training and support for your professional development.

Main duties of the job

The individual will be supporting the ward manager to provide a safe and effective environment for the patients and the staff.

Responsible for overseeing the ward in conjunction with the ward sister to deliver the best possible care to the patients. To work as an effective member of the team and support the junior staff in developing and progressing in their role.

Acts as a senior support for staff with recognition and implementation of care for changes in the patient condition.

Has in-depth knowledge in the management of hyper acute stroke patients, infection control policies, with practical experience and principles in relation to the clinical environment, patient care, the prevention of cross infection, outbreak management, good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning.

Undertake the Trust Corporate and Directorate specific development and competency programmes.

Represents the team and organisation at professional meetings as requested andfeeds back information appropriately.

With due regard to Risk Management policies and procedures, assists with using local data to ensure the environment is safe for patients, relatives, carers' and staff.
