Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Physician Associated to join the Haematology/Oncology Directorate at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.
The post would suit a Physician Associate keen to work in a very dynamic and challenging yet rewarding environment with multiple opportunities-to progress their careers. We are looking for quick thinking, motivated and compassionate professionals who are great ambassadors for the Physician Associate profession, and eager to join us in delivering a high standard of patient care at all times.
You will need to have a degree (preferably science or health-related) and have graduated from an established PG Dip or MSc Physician Associate Training Programme, which follows the Department of Health's Competence Curriculum Framework. You will also need to hold current and valid certification (or re-certification) by the UK Physician Associates National Examination and must be registered with the UK Managed Voluntary Register for Physician Associates.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Physician Associate is integrated into our forward-thinking and evolving model of clinical care in Oncology & Haematology at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust The post-holders will enhance the existing team of Junior Doctors, and will be based in the Oncology Haematology Directorate; their principle role being to support the ward rounds, and patient assessments on the Ward, Emergency Assessment Unit, and outpatient settings.
You will play a key role in contributing to the ongoing development of clinical services, ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting and managing patients presenting with haematological or oncological emergencies, managing patient flow and providing an exemplary patient experience. Physician Associates are highly valued members of the multidisciplinary medical team and form 'part' of the stable clinical workforce providing continuity of care for patients.
Physician Associates are accountable for ensuring that patient care is of a high standard at all times. The post-holder will also be expected to be an excellent role model and ambassador for the Physician Associate profession and to represent the 'department at local and external meetings as appropriate.
The Physician Associates will be supervised by the Educational Lead, and overall by the Consultants and Clinical Director or Clinical Lead.
