Job summary

The EMNODN has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated neonatal nurse with experience in education and service improvement to join the Network team as an Education & Clinical Effectiveness Nurse.

The post holder will work with nursing, medical and AHP staff in the neonatal units across the East Midlands region to deliver the EMNODN induction programme for neonatal nurses, plan and support the delivery of other nurse, medical and AHP education and training and support the delivery of service improvement across the Network.

The post holder must be a RN or RM, educated to, or willing to work towards, Masters degree level with neonatal experience and demonstrable interest in nursing education. Experience of developing, implementing and managing change in neonatal services is also essential. The role will require working from home and travel between neonatal units across the East Midlands.

Neonatal Networks were formed following recommendations from the Department of Health in 2003 and their objective is to ensure that babies and their families receive high quality care which is equitable and accessible for all. Neonatal Networks are the key central point for clinicians and nursing staff to communicate and collaborate. There are 11 neonatal units within the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (EMNODN) which spans Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in developing, supporting, and delivering a network-wide strategy for neonatal nurse education, training, and clinical effectiveness.
  • To support the delivery of service improvement across the network.
  • To plan, deliver and evaluate agreed training and educational workshops/study days across the Network.
  • Provide advice to the Network management team in relation to education, training, clinical effectiveness, and service improvement projects.
  • Link with neonatal networks at regional and national level, in respect of neonatal training, education and service improvement.
  • Link with Universities / Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in respect of neonatal training and education, as appropriate.
  • To assist with the development and dissemination of Network wide guidelines and protocols.
