Job summary

This is an exciting time to join our team as we roll out Dedicated Ward Pharmacy (DWP) across the whole trust.

This post will give the opportunity for working at a directorate level becoming more integrated in the multidisciplinary teams. Within your specialist area your role will be a key member of the clinical pharmacy team, working within our brand new Critical Care unit which opened in spring 2022, Theatres and/or Pain Team, supporting the Advanced Clinical Pharmacists, Critical Care and Nutrition. You will work alongside our Advanced Pharmacists for Critical Care and our Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for Anaesthetics.

Main duties of the job

We have two post holders who will work across the Theatres, Anaesthetic and Critical Care (TACC) directorate. We have one pharmacist in post and are looking for a second post holder to join our team. We have structured this as 6 month rotations between the 2 areas following on from the initial training period.

One post holder will provide ward cover to Critical Care, where you will participate in consultant led ward rounds. The second post will focus on delivering a pharmacy service to theatre areas alongside leading on our service to the Pain Team. There will also be opportunities to visit the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic or Main Theatres Admission Unit where we have a well-recognised presence.

If you are a motivated and compassionate individual looking for a new challenge, this post could be for you. A strong team spirit and good communication will be required as well as a desire to have the patient's safety at the foremost of everything you do. There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and expertise and consider the prescribing course if desired, sharing your expertise with colleagues in other specialities through nurse and doctor training.
