Job summary
It is essential that the post-holders are on the GMC specialist register or will obtain a relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the neonatal team working on our Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit (LNU). The successful applicant will fill a substantive post, a new 10PA position. Recruitment to this post will enable the delivery of 1 in 6 Neonatal on-call rota. 7 substantive consultants will provide a 'Neonatal Consultant of the week' service. Neonatal on-call will be divided amongst all 7 consultants. 'Service week' and 'on-call' frequency for these posts will depend on whether the new appointee is full or part-time. A new 10PA appointee could expect to work on average 4 days/week and be on call 1 in 6. We provide 24-hour neonatal consultant and Tier 1 cover separate from general paediatrics. We are currently recruiting to enable the expansion of the tier 2 rota and provide a dedicated neonatal registrar 24/7. There will be no requirement to undertake general paediatrics on-call.
Additional direct clinical care will include neonatal follow-up clinics, general paediatric outpatients, and daytime consultant cover for our general paediatric admissions unit. A neonatal or general paediatric special interest complementing the needs of our department would be welcomed. You will be expected to use some of the supporting professional activities for this post to support neonatal service development.
