Band 3 Radiology Department Assistant
37.5 hrs/ week with 1 weekend in 7
A vacancy has arisen for a Radiographic Department assistant in the Radiology Department at Northampton General Hospital.
The role is to support the X-ray service both at the NGH site and Daventry hospital site, the post holder must hold a valid UK Drivers licence.
The role involves a wide variety of duties including some admin and clerical tasks as well as direct patient contact assisting in the X-ray rooms, fluoroscopy room and supporting the radiographer or nurse in the PICC line service.
The candidate should have excellent communication skills and must demonstrate good team working, IT skills would also be helpful.
You will be involved in all elements of the patients pathway supporting consultant, nursing and radiographic staff.
Full training will be given to the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
Liaising and organising inpatient x-ray work and flow.
Assisting Radiographers in the x-ray room, with moving and handling of patients.
Cleaning , stocking of a variety of rooms.
Answering the telephone and bleep.
Booking in A/E patients for x-ray and CT imaging.
Communicating with a variety of staff including Drs , nurses and porter.

To work with the medical, radiographic and nursing team delivering patient centred care during examinations and procedures.
To liaise with medical and nursing staff outside radiology to facilitate good workflow and prompt treatment of patients.
To undertake patient transfers in line with Trust manual handling policy and procedure.
To undertake routine clerical duties, using radiology IT systems, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
To prepare the examination rooms ensuring they are clean and tidy with suitable stock available for the daily worklist. To change linen and clean radiographic and ancillary equipment on a daily basis as a minimum requirement. High levels of cleanliness to be maintained at all times.
To maintain stock records.
To assist in the quality assurance programmes for the department.
To be responsible for own personal development and attend mandatory training as required by the Trust.
To maintain patient confidentiality at all times and be aware of the implications of breaching this requirement which may result in disciplinary proceedings, dismissal and civil action for damages. Safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data at all times.
To ensure infection control procedures are adhered to at all times.
To ensure a healthy and safe environment exists in the department at all times.
To report clinical and non-clinical incident through the correct departmental and Trust procedures.
To be familiar with the fire procedure for the department.
To be able to wear personal protective equipment and to stand for extended periods of time during radiographic procedures.
