Shape the Future of Emergency Care at UHN
University Hospitals Northamptonshire (UHN) is proud to deliver emergency care services across Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital. We are now seeking experienced, motivated and dynamic Registered Nurses (Band 6) to join our Emergency Care teams. While this is a single recruitment advert, all posts are hospital specific. Applicants can express a preference for NGH or KGH during the application process.
Main duties of the job
Emergency Care within the NHS is fast paced, acute and constantly evolving. Our Emergency Departments provide care to patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergency conditions, requiring confident nursing assessment, sound clinical knowledge and skills and compassionate leadership.
As a Senior Registered Nurse (Band 6), you will play a key leadership role within the department and have the opportunity to lead and coordinate clinical areas, including (but not limited to):
- Initial Assessment and Triage
- Emergency Department Majors
- Resuscitation and Trauma
- Emergency Department Minors
- Continuing Care Areas
You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred emergency care, while supporting patient flow and operational delivery

- Develop nursing expertise across all emergency care areas
- Build leadership and management capabilities
- Contribute to the day-to-day leadership of teams including Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and wider support staff
- Act as a visible nursing presence and role model
- Support improvement, safety initiatives and service development
