Job summary

The Lead PMA will provide visible leadership and expert support within maternity services, ensuring the implementation of the A-EQUIP model, a continuous quality improvement framework designed to enhance care for women and babies, build midwives' resilience, and support professional development and revalidation.

Main duties of the job

The Lead PMA will:

Be responsible for embedding the A-EQUIP model across the service so that quality improvement becomes part of everyday practice.

Implement the four functions of A-EQUIP

Act as a senior advocate for midwives, promoting safe, high-quality, person-centered maternity care.

Support midwives through Restorative Clinical Supervision (RCS) and facilitate annual PMA meetings for all midwives.

Provide strategic input into maternity governance and quality assurance systems.

Work closely with Heads of Midwifery, Consultant Midwives, and multidisciplinary teams.

Work with service users, HEIs, and regional maternity networks.

Promote compassionate care and staff wellbeing through structured support mechanisms
