Job summary
The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides an integrated service for patients with Respiratory diseases. There have been significant improvements to the department recently including Hot clinics, Respiratory infection service, Respiratory ambulatory care, Medical thoracoscopy, outpatient management of pneumothorax, Ambulatory pleural effusion service, Respiratory virtual wards, Level 2 thoracic ultrasound and physician led percutaneous lung and pleural biopsies. A number of respiratory conditions are managed innovatively through the ambulatory care unit thereby avoiding admissions. We are currently in the process of setting up sleep service. The department is renowned for its innovation and is a five-time finalist at national awards having won the Royal college of physicians Excellence in clinical care awards (innovation category).
Main duties of the job
The post is a substantive appointments for Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. The appointee will join seven existing Respiratory Consultants (Eight in total) in delivering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. This post will be a replacement post for one of the consultants who retired recently. A specialist interest in either ILD and/or virtual wards would be preferable. Other sub speciality interests are also entertained.
