Job summary
The Duties of the Sterile Services Technician is to assist in the safe process of decontamination and sterilisation of medical devices and surgical instruments through-out the Hospital and external customers. The successful candidate will receive full training via our departmental induction programme.
To comply, maintain and uphold all aspects of Decontamination Compliance ISO- 13485 relevant to your grade and position. This is a part time position. Hours are 07.00 - 15.00 Mon-Fri (37.5hrs pw).
Main duties of the job
o To assist in the safe cleaning, disinfection, decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments, medical devices and specialised equipment.o To work within part of a team who offer the collection and return of re-usable medical devices from wards and departments.o To inspect and pack surgical instruments and related products ensuring the devices are safe and fit for purpose.o To undertake all aspects of Sterilisation and ensure products are safe for product releaseo To help distribute processed items to wards and departmentso To undertake and understand the use of P/Cs and tray tracking software / hardware.o To follow all guidelines set within the Departments Decontamination compliance certification and related operational policiesoTo follow all guidelines set within the Departments Decontamination compliance certification and related operational policieso To carry out any other duties consistent with the grade or as determined by the immediate supervisor in relation to the safe and efficient running of the department.o An "On Call" system is provided for all out of hours departmental / Trust cover. You will be expected to participate after training.
