The role is to assist and support the delivery of quality care within the Dermatology Department. To concentrate on tasks that directly always support and assist the patient under the supervision of trained Nurses. To report changes in patient condition and help deliver quality patient care at all times

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in clinic to support clinicians to ensure clinics are running effectively and provide quality care for our patients
  • To present self to patients, visitors in a pleasant and professional manner
  • To aid patient during their time in outpatients, demonstrating awareness of each individual's privacy. Respecting people's dignity, wishes and beliefs, involving them in shared decision making, and obtaining their consent, within the constraints of Trust policy, for care to be undertaken.
  • Contribute the day to day running of the department and support the needs of the patient journey. Support and monitoring of patients throughout, enabling them to address their own health and well being as far as it is possible for them to do so
  • Undertake observations in clinic and chaperone where needed. Obtains clinical samples such as urine, skin swabs
  • Ensure clinic paperwork is completed correctly
  • Removal of wound dressings and application of simple replacement dressings
  • Applications of prescribed topical treatments under the direction of a trained Nurse or Doctor
  • Set up minor theatre and assist during minor procedures, overseeing Junior staff in theatre, including:

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To assist in clinic to support clinicians to ensure clinics are running effectively and provide quality care for our patients

  • Have full understanding of the patient's optimum level of mobility and to assist with movement of patients through different care settings
