Job summary
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic & driven individual to join our fantastic Dermatology Team.
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 6).
The post will be based at the Dermatology department at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. There may be opportunity to work at outlying clinics in the future
The post-holder will join a friendly and dynamic Dermatology Team. This job provides a valuable opportunity for a nurse planning to develop specialist skills in Dermatology. The commitments include Out-Patient clinics, Telephone advice & helpline and monitoring of patients on DMARDS (Disease modifying agents), along with treatment clinics and Phototherapy
The ideal candidate must have experience of working at a Band 5 level or above. Experience within Dermatology would be desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
Asses, plan, implement and evaluate care as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills which are above and beyond those of a general nurse. This includes provision of care through nurse led clinics according to clinical need
Deliver a wide variety of treatments to patients with dermatological conditions following best practice guidance.
Carrying a caseload responsible for the management of adults and children requiring phototherapy treatments for a variety of skin conditions with the support of the Dermatology consultants and maintain accurate clinical records.
Improving and maintaining standards of care in Dermatology using research based evidence from nursing and medical journals and updates.
Be responsible for the on-going evaluation of the effectiveness of patient care, including evaluation of own practice to ensure the highest possible standards are adhered to.
To support, encourage and advise patients, carers and clinical teams in both primary and secondary care by the provision of specialist knowledge and advice in the care of patients within the appointee's skills and knowledge within the clinical area.
Act as patient advocate to enable individuals to make informed decisions regarding their care, treatment plan decisions and self care options
Provide safe, accurate and comprehensive monitoring of patients receiving immunosuppressant therapies and biologic agents to minimise risk of adverse effects.
