Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated person with high communication skills that uses dignity and empathy whilst adhering to data protection and Information Governance Policy.

The post holder will be responsible for face to face booking in of patients attending the Pathology department handling patient calls for the booking of blood tests appointments and on a Rota basis and on occasion working at our other pathology sites at Corby Nuffield Diagnostic, Nene Park and Isebrook.

Main duties of the job

  • It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that all patients are greeted in a polite and sympathetic manner.
  • Use of computer systems where appropriate, using our telephone software including patient management systems, email system, the Internet and intranet and other office systems.
  • Communicate with all levels of hospital staff, outside agencies and members of the publicin a professional and effective manner.
  • To answer the telephone and transfer calls to the appropriate person as required.
  • To arrange appointments for specialised blood tests as appropriate.
  • To carry out specific clerical and administrative duties as requested by clinical staff and line managers.
  • To operate office and computing equipment, keep it in good order and report faults to appropriate person.
  • The post holder will undertake duties as required within their sphere of competency and after undertaking appropriate training.
  • The post holder will be expected to maintain and develop their skills in accordance with the needs of the post and the Directorate.
  • Any other duties that may be necessary within the scope and remit of the grading of the post
