Job summary
The Cardiac Centre currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated radiographer to join our dynamic and friendly team. If you wish to pursue a career in cardiac radiography, we can offer you the opportunities needed to develop your existing skill set, and to train to the highest level of expertise. We can offer full or part time posts to suitable candidates.
The department currently has 3 catheter labs, one of which is due to be replaced shortly.
The post holder will be involved in the provision of an extensive range of adult diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.These will include percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), cardiac devices and Primary PCI (PPCI).
You will work alongside the lead cardiac radiographer covering 4 days a week with a commitment to partake in the on-call service, as well as extended working hours following supervised training. The post holder must have the ability to transport themselves to the department within 30 minutes of being called out (i.e. personal transportation). However, on site on call accommodation is provided.

Main duties of the job
- Undertaking a range of specialist cardiac cath lab procedures in line with department operational procedures and policies.
- Be able to work autonomously within their specialist areas, consulting senior staff as and when necessary.
- Accountable for own professional actions and work within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
- To ensure a high standard of personal work and ensure quality imaging.
- Act as patient and staff advocate minimising their exposure to radiation.
- Responsible for the safe use of complex high capital cost specialist equipment.
- Working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team committed to providing efficient and effective high-quality care and participating in the 24/7 on-call PPCI service.
- Practice and promote good radiation safety, observing local rules, participating in the equipment QA programmes and using ALARA principle to produce high quality diagnostic imaging with the lowest achievable dose.
- Develop clinical skills and participate in CPD activities and the education of others.
