Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, self-motivated and experienced Ophthalmic Nurse Injector to support a high-quality Nurse-Led Intravitreal Injection Service for the Ophthalmology Department at Kettering General Hospital. The role will be primarily based at our Satellite Unit at Nene Park Outpatients Clinic, Irthlingborough.

The successful candidate will have previous post registration clinical experience in administering intravitreal injections to manage medical retina conditions such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion. Additionally, the nurse will provide clinical leadership in the Ophthalmology Outpatient Department (OPD) by assisting with patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatment plans in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and skilled Ophthalmic Nurse Injector to provide ongoing professional and clinical expertise, with an ability to positively influence clinical pathways and an understanding of the issues and challenges associated with delivering a Nurse-Led Intravitreal Injection Service. As an Ophthalmic Nurse Injector, you will play a crucial role in our Ophthalmic department. Your primary responsibility will be to run nurse-led IVT injection clinics aimed at improving the day-to-day living of patients with a range of Ophthalmic conditions.

This role requires a high level of precision, compassion and dedication to patient care. You will work closely with an Ophthalmic Consultant and who will be available to assist with any medical concerns before the IVT injection takes place. You will also work with the Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialists to further develop and deliver a Nurse-Led Intravitreal Injection Service. This collaborative approach ensures that our patients receive the highest standard of care. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices within the department.

Your will provide knowledge and skills to the rest of the team and participate in associated management activities. You will act as leader in the Ophthalmology team and be professionally accountable for the standard of care in that department.
