The post holder will be part of the Family Health Division Senior Management team, (Chief of Family Health, Clinical Directors, Divisional Director and Deputy Divisional Director, Head of Nursing, Service Managers) overseeing our Medical records Department.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Records Manager post is responsible for the effective strategic and operational management of the Healthcare Records Department They will be responsible for developing and implementing the trust wide Healthcare Records Strategy and Trust wide Digital agenda.
To provide leadership and operational support on Health Records issues across the Trust, being responsible for keeping up to date with changes and interpreting legislation affecting clinical records and the Healthcare Records Service. Advice and suggested changes should be provided to ensure standards are maintained. This role is required to effectively and continuously develop and improve health records practices.

Essential
- Educated to Masters level education or equivalent level or equivalent experience delivering the Medical Records service & Digital services
- Sufficient knowledge of the provision of health services
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical workflows relevant to EPR in NHS setting
- Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
Desirable
- Project Management qualification, such as PRINCE II or experience of using structured project methodology
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Expert Knowledge of BSI accreditation for Medical Records and GDPR
- Proven experience of working as a Medical Records Manager in a large organisation with complex record management requirements
- Leadership of complex digital/IT clinical systems change/project management while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality
- Ability to contribute to the effective performance and budgetary management and control in Service area
- Sufficient knowledge of NHS/Government policies, strategies and organisational relationships in relation Clinical Systems, to be able to advise stakeholders and develop proposals for the service area
- Knowledge of digital healthcare standards and NHS datasets and their relationship to coding, finance and commissioning
- Demonstrable experience of leading a team in an operational environment at a senior level (preferably in an NHS environment)
