Job summary

We are excited that both hospitals within University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group (UHN) (Kettering General Hospital & Northampton General Hospital) have become People Promise Exemplar sites, sponsored by NHSE to bring to life the People Promise at our Trusts. The People Promise sets out in the words of our NHS people what matters to them and what will most improve their working experience.

We are seeking two People Promise Managers at UHN, based across both sites. This will involve travel across Northamptonshire as required by the role. These roles are responsible for advocating and promoting the People Promise commitments for the importance of helping our colleagues thrive at work and home.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced workforce professional to be involved in a delivering a wide range of people focussed interventions in order to achieve improved outcomes for both staff satisfaction and retention.

Embedded within our HR team and working closely with the ICS Retention Lead & NHS England National Retention Programme, these roles will have a critical part to play in the embedding and evaluation of a suite of interventions reflecting the People Promise and based on the needs of local staff groups.

These posts are sponsored by NHSE and provide an opportunity to identify and deliver against an exciting and ambitious 12-month programme and contribute to local, regional, and national working that improves staff experience and retention in the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Candidates will need to have experience in establishing and delivering a number of strands of work including complex projects that aims to have workforce-wide results. They will need to engage and work together with a wide range of stakeholders to support the coordination and delivery of day-to-day activities, projects and programmes of work. The post holder should be able to lead and deliver through influence and collaboration with colleagues and utilise internal and external relationships to share, develop and innovate. There will be a focus on ensuring that that feedback , insight and evidence is gained to enhance staff experience that will retain our people and inform future programmes of work.

Candidates should have recent HR/Workforce/OD experience and they will need to have a sound understanding of our workforce challenges to support their development of business plans and initiatives that also demonstrate value for money. They will be expected to provide expert strategic and policy advice and guidance on all areas of the required portfolio and be able to apply a structured change management approach and methodology in relation to change management.

We are looking for someone who will have visible and responsive leadership, setting the standard for others and role-modelling throughout the divisions for all managers.
