Job summary

Biomedical Scientist(Band 5 / 6) HCPC Registered with experience of Haematology and Blood Transfusion

A new opportunity has arisen to join our relaxed and friendly team as a Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology Department at Kettering General Hospital. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered BMS with experience of working in Haematology and Transfusion, preferably within the NHS.

The post holder will be required to participate in the out of hours service (weekend and night work), following completion of in-house training and competency assessment. The out of hours rota is fairly distributed amongst the staff group and there is also the opportunity to supplement your salary with additional shifts if desired.

Applicants will need to possess good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Ideally you will hold a Specialist Portfolio but if you do not and are working towards it we would consider this role as a developmental one. You would commence on Band 5 until you have achieved the portfolio.

Main duties of the job

Our department is equipped with an automated track system consisting of reliable low maintenance Sysmex analysers in both Haematology and Coagulation. The department offers in-house haemoglobinopathy and specialist haemostasis testing which staff are given the opportunity to specialise in as a biomedical scientist. In Blood Transfusion we have Bio-Rad IH-1000 analysers.

The department is accredited to UKAS ISO 15189 and is registered with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences as a training laboratory for pre and post registration training.

Kettering is a thriving market town set in stunning countryside and surrounded by idyllic villages. There are excellent transport links and London is just 40 minutes by train. There ae numerous outstanding schools in the locality, and housing and accommodation is relatively affordable
