Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 x Band 7 Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners to join the Adult Mental Health pathway within the South Tyneside locality. We are looking for B7 Mental Health Practitioners/Non-Medical Prescribers (NMP) (or working towards this) for the Adult element of the Lifespan Model.

The role consists of working into the GP surgeries and other community establishments; providing holistic assessments and brief psychological interventions to those who are presenting with a range of mental health needs to their GP, completing medication reviews as per nice guideline, clinical and service leadership and supervision. We are seeking applicants with outstanding skills, knowledge, and experience of working within this sector. The post also includes elements of service development meaning it is an excellent opportunity for those who are keen to implement service change.

This is a very exciting, diverse, and autonomous role, and will be vital to have positive working relationships with other primary care agencies, secondary care and voluntary organisations. Applicants must have strong communication and organisational skills and will be required to work collaboratively with partners, demonstrating the effectiveness of this service through the consistent use of appropriate outcome measures.

Main duties of the job

As Senior Mental Health Practitioners working within primary care, you'll work autonomously within the GP practices, and other community establishments, offering initial mental health consultation, assessment and formulation, signposting and onwards referral as well as providing brief psychological interventions suited to patients in primary care. You will provide clinical leadership, support service development and promote the role of mental health practitioners within the primary care setting.

You'll work as a member of the South Tyneside PCN team at the forefront of developing an innovative approach to mental health in primary care. You'll have excellent interpersonal skills, be committed to delivering excellent patient care and have extensive experience working in a range of mental health services. You'll be supported by the wider team that you work alongside daily as well as having regular opportunities for formal supervision and peer support with other mental health practitioners working across the locality.

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in evidence based psychological therapies relevant to Pathway.
  • Post Graduate Degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • ENB 998/P126/127
  • Student Nurse Assessor or equivalent
