Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, dynamic and committed qualified mental health nurses to work in the Psychiatric liaison team based at NSECH hospital at Cramlington.
We are seeking to appoint highly motivated Band 6 staff within the working age pathway pathway as part of the 24/7 service.
This is an interesting and varied role, working in fast-paced environments including Accident and Emergency and in-patient wards across the footfall of the acute trust.
You will be responsible for undertaking biopsychosocial assessment and risk assessment, delivering brief interventions, liaising with other services and offering the acute Trust staff expert advice, as well as giving ongoing support and treatment to patients, as required.
The successful candidate will be joining a team with well-established links with the acute trusts, community and will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
We have a fantastic Clinical Reference Group for all CNTW Liaison Teams with biweekly teaching, dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist for adult pathway, Nurse Consultant, psychology, pharmacy and Clinical Leadership team.
The service operates 24/7 and the role includes working shifts/bank holidays/nightshifts.
We have access to the acute site facilities including a GYM and health and wellbeing hub.
Main duties of the job
In Liaison psychiatry, staff undertake comprehensive biopsychosocial mental health assessments alongside robust risk and safety planning assessments.
When patients remain in the acute hospital for medical treatment, we provide liaison interventions which may include brief psychological interventions.
Liaising with professional's involved in the person's care including family and carers, acute care staff, social care and other services.

Essential
- Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
- Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
- Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
- Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
- Mentor Training.
Knowledge and Experience

- 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
