We invite applicants to apply for a trust grade post that offers an excellent and new opportunity for a doctor with previous experience in Psychiatry to work in care of Older Adults with an organic illness, such as dementia, based at Carleton Clinic, Carlisle.

You will have the opportunity to work with one of the largest mental health NHS Trusts in England. The post holder will live in an area with easy access to some of the world-famous historical sites and places of outstanding natural beauty.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will develop competencies under supervision in diagnosis of dementia and comorbidities, assessment and management of behavioural and psychological symptoms (i.e. BPSD), risk reduction, palliative care, assessment and treatment of carer distress. The main duties include enthusiastic engagement in the assessment and reviews of physical and mental health status, arranging relevant investigations, carrying out risk assessments and managing the risks, support with creation and management of comprehensive safe treatment plans and education are some of the key areas in which the post holder can contribute. There will be access to regular senior psychiatrist (s) support and supervision. Liaison with relevant professionals of other statutory agencies and with colleagues working with other clinical and mental health services will also be relevant to the role.
You will have access to office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. This is a fixed contract post however contract can be extended when appropriate.
