Are you an experienced, enthusiastic and resilient EMDR Adult Consultant with experience of strategically leading EMDR as a Governed Psychological Therapy across NHS Trusts or other EMDR Therapy Service providers?
There is an exciting opportunity to strategically lead EMDR Therapy delivery, Supervision, training and Governance of EMDR across a large mental health NHS Trust. The role would require you to have experience in a Consultant Psychological Therapist/psychologist role previously as this role will be strategically leading EMDR Trust wide alongside leading the clinical assessment and therapy within the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies EMDR Clinical Pathway. Your role would require you to lead on the provision of this therapy across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, working closely with the CCG commissioned mental health services to deliver a service as near to people's place of residence as possible, working particularly with disadvantaged or marginalised people, and contribute to a culture of excellence, innovation and healing.
This post is for 0.8 WTE (30 hours per week).
Main duties of the job
The Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies provides a range of specialist psychotherapeutic modalities and post qualification training. We are looking to recruit an experienced Consultant in EMDR into a substantive trust wide leadership post for this therapeutic modality.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychological Therapist, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is an EMDR Adult Consultant to help lead and develop the provision of EMDR, provide clinical leadership to a team and network of therapists, providing scaffolding, training and consultation across a large and diverse geography, and expert supervision to emerging and accredited practitioners.
We hope the successful person will bring an interest in working with a range of clinical presentations, including psychosis and dissociative disorders, know how to manage complexity with such issues as neurodiversity, have an interest and skill in EMDR research and be able to govern, monitor and evaluate service delivery and clinical outcomes in collaboration with people with lived experience.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society. / An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS), or RMN, or equivalent degree qualification in mental health and Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (eg Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post Graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity Diploma).
Experience and Skills
Essential
- Substantial post qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
- Substantial further specialist training and experience, equivalent to at least 6 years' experience, including being able to demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead.
- Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological therapy training to a range of professional groups.
- Substantial experience of providing clinical supervision.
- Experience of contributing to strategic clinical or organisational development and/or service development or service redesign.

- Clear vision for developing EMDR provision across the organisation
