Job summary

Specialist Children & Young People's Services (CYPS) inpatient service are seeking to recruit an Assistant Practitioner Occupational Therapist into our CYPS Mental Health inpatient service working with young people with a range of mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity. The successful candidate will provide support to the registered Occupational Therapist using knowledge and skills with a complex clinical population.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working alongside the Occupational Therapist with the administration of assessments, carrying out interventions and supporting with measuring outcomes. This is dependent upon the needs of young people, and treatment and recommendations for improving occupational performance in managing the demands of activities of daily living, daily routines and the impact of environmental factors. The post holder will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team members in supporting the delivery of Occupational Therapy care and treatment plans in meeting the occupational needs of young people.

Essential

  • Foundation degree in applied social studies or alternative (NVQ/BTEC/QCF) with additional training to diploma level equivalent in the speciality field.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills applicable to the post as detailed in the person specification.

Knowdedge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an appropriate care setting
  • Able to follow instructions recognising the boundaries of own competency.
  • Experience of supervising/teaching individuals

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in Occupational Therapy
