Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an appropriately experienced clinician to join our mental health pathway within South Tyneside CYPS.

South Tyneside CYPS is the Getting More Help service in the locality offering assessment and intervention to children and young people who have a moderate to severe mental health need.

Main duties of the job

Provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

Work as member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.

Comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of children and young people experiencing symptoms related to mental health disorders including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, psychosis

Engage young people and their carers in personalised risk formulation and safety planning.

To care plan and provide a variety of treatments including behavioural activation, solution focused, distress tolerance and cognitive behavioural therapy based interventions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post
  • Mentor training
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.

Experience

  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.

  • Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
