Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Pharmacist to this key leadership post within the CNTW Pharmacy Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading & delivering our Medicines Optimisation and Medicines Safety services.
You will lead, manage and develop the Medicines Safety Team, overseeing and co-ordinating the pharmacy response to medication incidents, safety alerts and other safety priorities. This includes responsibility for reviewing, managing and reporting of medicine safety and optimisation data, identifying themes, learning and improvement opportunities, in line with PSIRF principles. You will have an important role in supporting and influencing safe and effective medicine practice, enhancing and optimising patient care.
The postholder will be part of the pharmacy management team within the department and will represent pharmacy services both within the Trust and externally. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential and we welcome applications from all pharmacy sectors. This is a Trustwide post and work base can be negotiable; however, regular onsite presence at St Nicholas Hospital will be required to support team development and collaborative working.
As the Medicines Safety Officer, you will represent the Trust at local, regional and national MSO networks. You will work collaboratively with Trust clinical leads and external partners, supporting the development and delivery of shared care medicines guidelines and pathways.

We provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community mental health teams, crisis teams, psychiatric liaison and other specialist services. Pharmacy staff are seen as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team. Our pharmacist independent prescribers are active within a range of clinical services.
