Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated individual to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop the delivery of the Clinical and Forensic Psychology services provided by the Kolvin Service.
The Kolvin Service compromises a regional community adolescent forensic mental health service, a nationally commissioned FCAMHS provision; and mental health and forensic services into two Secure Children's Homes in the North East for young people aged 10-18 years.
The Kolvin Service collaboratively leads on the implementation of the SECURE STAIRS framework at Aycliffe Secure Centre and Kyloe House Secure Children's Homes (SCHs). The SECURE STAIRS framework represents a shift in focus within the secure estate from interventions focussed solely at young people, to trauma-informed care focussed on the whole system.
The current position will be part of the integrated provision into the SCHs. The post holder will be complementing and developing a multi-disciplinary service provision. The post holder will also contribute to the multi-disciplinary team embedding the SECURE STAIRS framework at the Secure Children's Homes.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will therefore need to be (commensurate with experience) confident in providing high quality, evidence-based assessments and interventions, have experience of psychotherapies, trauma-informed care, and have an understanding and experience of working with young people with mental health, behavioural and emotional difficulties in complex environments and demonstrable research competency.
Employing leadership skills to embed trauma-informed care will be a key component of the role. Developing and delivering staff training and reflective practice will also form part of this role.
The post holder will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently. There will be a requirement to share knowledge and skills specific to communication to other members of the team including stakeholders.
Regular support and supervision will be available, and professional supervision will be provided by a senior psychologist. The post holder will be expected to actively engage in the supervision and the continuing professional development process.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.

Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and experience in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
