Job summary

Role: Night Clinical Lead/Night Coordinator

Location: Carlisle (supporting teams in Carlisle and Whitehaven).

Hours: Full-time night shifts, with some expectation to attend occasional daytime meetings and mandatory training. Four on four off basis.

Purpose: To provide clinical leadership, support, and coordination across the crisis and psychiatric liaison teams at night, offering guidance and expert advice to staff working in acute and urgent care

Main duties of the job

  • Leadership and Team Management
  • Coordinate the urgent care and psychiatric liaison service during night hours.
  • Induction, development, and ongoing supervision of staff.
  • Conduct appraisals and oversee staff training and development needs.
  • Manage performance, absence, and HR processes in line with organisational policy.
  • Motivate, engage, and develop the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Lead and coordinate team communication, including holding regular meetings, consulting on service changes, and acting as a conduit for information.
  • Clinical Oversight and Patient Care
  • Ensure safe, effective, and high-quality care for service users and their carers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and quality of night services.
  • Promote recovery, independence, and positive patient outcomes.
  • Oversee patient and carer experience, responding to complaints and feedback appropriately.
  • Support teams following serious incidents, including debriefs, local and after-action reviews, and participation in Serious Incident Panels.

HR and Compliance

  • Support HR processes as required.
  • Ensure statutory and mandatory training is completed in line with contractual requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First Level Registered Nurse RNMH, RMN, RNLD or equivalent first level qualification e.g. Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Clinical Psychologist
  • Relevant Post Graduate qualification or Training.

Desirable

  • Leadership or Management Training

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of coordinating and managing staff resources.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team using a community based approach.
  • Experience of working with community based mental health services.
  • Experience of leading teams and taking on a leadership role in project management.
  • Commitment to Partnership working both multi-agency and multi-disciplinary.
  • Coordinating and supporting staff in the day to day provision of clinical services.
  • At least 2 years post registration experience

Desirable

  • Awareness of human resource issues and budget management. Undertaking Joint Development Reviews.

Skills

  • Demonstrate leadership skills/delegation. Excellent communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict management
