Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to work in a newly developed trauma-informed service in partnership with the NewcastleLocal Authority. This is a newly commissioned service and is part of a national NHS England pilot to deliver extended services for children and young people with complex trauma.
The team includes senior psychologists and psychological therapists, advanced practitioners, speech and language therapists, assistantpsychology and Peer Support workers, who will be employed by Cumbria Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust and seconded into Newcastle Council.
Main duties of the job
The role will be supporting the team in formulating the needs of children and young people in the local authority who may be considered to presenthigh risk to themselves, high risk to others or are highly vulnerable within external relationships.
Most of the role involves working indirectly,collecting data, maintaining data sets and liaising with carers. Opportunities for direct work with young people are limited in this work.
As part of a wider team, the successful candidate will support consultations, assessments and formulation with professionals and carers working with childrenand young people to support the principles of the Integrated Care
Framework outlined below.

All behaviour is understandable in context; there is a focus on developing an understanding of each CYP's behaviour and needs basedon their story.6. There is a commitment by all to build and sustain trauma-informed organisations.
