Job summary

North Cumbria Crisis Team is looking for highly motivated Occupational Therapists to compliment our Team.

You will have the opportunity to base in Carlisle or Workington to deliver high quality care to patients across North Cumbria.

You will provide evidence based occupationally focussed assessments and interventions to patients with complex needs with the ability to recognise and anticipate situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of service users and their carers.

The service follows the model of human occupation and the framework for assessment formulation and care planning. You will be supported by more senior Occuptational Therapists in the team. And if newly qualified, you will be supported through the multiprofessional preceptorship programme.

Main duties of the job

To provide occupational therapy input to service users who have a variety of occupational needs, which have been impacted by their crisis. This may include a diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognitive and/or learning disabilities under the direction of a more experienced member of Occupational Therapy staff.To manage and provide ongoing assessment and intervention for service users.To consider carer needs and ensure carer and family are involved in intervention planning where appropriate.To develop and deliver evidenced based Occupational Therapy interventions in collaboration with service users and carers where appropriate.The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

To liaise with other occuptaional therapy colleagues in other services to ensure occupational needs are promoted and met.To provide clinical supervision to staff members as delegated by Clinical Lead.To incorporate a client centred philosophy into clinical practice and client centred collaborative care.

  • Registered with HCPC
  • Commitment to complete fieldwork education training.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives
