Advanced Social Worker

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Specialist Children and Young People's inpatient services. We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Social Worker to join the team and services.

You would be joining at an exciting time with the introduction of Social Worker into the service and newly developed inpatient clinical pathways. Young people aged between 13 to 18 years old who come into our services are assessed for the clinical pathway which best suits their clinical needs. These clinical pathways include acute Mental Illness ward, general Mental Health including eating disorder ward, Learning Disability Ward, Low and Medium secure wards.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver advanced clinical social work interventions to young people and their families.
  • Apply legal and statutory frameworks (e.g., MHA, Children Act, MCA) to support care planning and safeguarding.
  • Offer expert social work consultation and leadership across the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Work collaboratively with education staff, families, external agencies, and local authorities.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives including Talk 1st, positive and safe strategies, and user-led projects.
  • Mentor, supervise, and support junior staff and students, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.

Participate in clinical audits, training delivery, and research projects to enhance service quality.
