Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to join the North Cumbria Adult Eating Disorder Service (NCAEDS).

NCAEDS services are integrated service providing assessment and treatment for Adults with Eating Disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Avoidant Restrictive Intake Disorder (ARFID). We are a multi-disciplinary team which include Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists, Dietitians and Occupational Therapists.

We are a rapidly expanding service including Adult ARFID, FREED and Intensive Day Service at Home pathways, which gives opportunities to be part of service development

We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in working with adults with an eating disorder.

Main duties of the job

As a core team member you will provide specialist psychological assessment, individual and group interventions, to service users in collaboration with colleagues. You will also support the wider team with assessment, formulation and care planning as well as offer supervision and consultation. In addition, you will contribute to training initiatives and innovative service developments, in support of the provision of compassionate, trauma informed care and high quality, evidence-based interventions that promote wellbeing and recovery. There are opportunities to contribute to audit and research and the service has well-established links to local training providers.

The successful applicant will be CBT-ED accredited or awaiting accreditation and have specialist knowledge and experience in the application of MANTRA and SSCM, NICE guideline interventions relevant to adults with eating disorders. You will also be part of a dynamic, innovative and supportive network of psychologists and psychological therapists in various pathways across the wider Trust.

Essential

  • An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society; Or an Honours degree level qualification in another mental health field, subject to specific suitability check; And able to meet Core Profession equivalence KSA requirements. Or RMN, OT, Arts Psychotherapy or Social Worker degree level qualification; And Accredited post-graduate qualifications in a minimum of one psychological therapy modality appropriate to the designated pathway, as detailed in the table below, together with ongoing registration / accredited membership of the appropriate professional body.

This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.
