Job summary

We have an excellent opportunity within the North Cumbria Inpatient Clinical Business unit, for a Clinical Nurse Specialist 8a role across our Acute mental health inpatient wards within Carleton Clinic, North Cumbria.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will contribute to the strategic direction for the development of nursing practice within the designated Clinical Business Unit. Will take the lead in extending boundaries and creating frameworks for the enhancement of nursing within their speciality. The post holder will continue to strive towards excellence in nursing care and communicate this excellence to colleagues both within the organisation and externally. The post holder will work with the Nurse Consultant on nursing developments within this specialist area of practice.

Main duties of the job

Key Functions:

? Offering "specialist practice' within the service for up to 80% of the post.

? Professional leadership and advice, including clinical supervision.

? Take part in service developments within the CBU pathways.

? Education, training and development of staff, and a range of other agencies, statutory and non-statutory in conjunction with the Nurse Consultant. With formal academic links established.

? Undertake audit and related activities in aspects of clinical practice, therapeutic intervention and service evaluation involving service users and their families.

? Contribute to the strategic development of the nursing strategy for CNTW Trust.

The post holder will offer clinical and specialist professional input across the designated pathway within the CBU. It is envisaged that the post holder will have close links and develop consistencies in practice with equivalent Clinical Nurse Specialists across the locality group and the trust.

  • First level registered nurse
  • Recognized teaching qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification at Masters level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Evidence of experience in therapeutic interventions relevant to working with enduring mental health problems i.e. PSI, CBT, Family Interventions, Group Work
  • Advanced level therapeutic training in one of the above modalities
