Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our specialist community neuro-rehabilitation team. You will be joining a passionate and dynamic multi-disciplinary team where our service users' needs are at the centre of what we do. We are looking for an enthusiastic occupational therapist to work alongside us. Our philosophy is to work in partnership with service users, families, carers and other stakeholders. We aim to optimise quality of life and enabling individuals to relearn skills to achieve their maximum independence, enabling them to thrive in their community.

Main duties of the job

We provide assessment and intervention as a multi-disciplinary team, to residents over the age of 16, who have a diagnosed neurological condition with rehabilitation needs. The service comprises of the Community MS Team and Regional Disability Team, where staff members work into both teams. We cover the region for specialist neurological therapy intervention working from our base at Walkergate Park and a variety of settings within the community.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Recognised Occupational therapy degree/ qualification
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of post-registration training in OT interventions relevant to the post.

Desirable

  • Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
  • Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required.
  • Experience of supervising students / non registered staff

Desirable

  • Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
  • Undertaking Appraisals
