The Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service (NRGDS) is a national service offering assessment and treatment for people with gender dysphoria, hosted by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW). The service offers psychologically informed medical care, voice and communication therapy and psychological therapy as well as onward referral for surgeries and hair reduction.
In a period of exciting change and development we are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Psychologist who is highly motivated and capable to join our Specialist Gender Dysphoria Clinic. The position is permanent.
The successful applicant will be working closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in all aspects of the service delivery across clinical, research and audit and governance domains, and supporting other forms of gender affirming service provision as required.
Main duties of the job
The role requires strong research and analytical skills in developing an outcomes measurement framework for the service, in conjunction with the wider team. This will include an important element of working with service users, to test potential tools and ways of operationalising the measurements, to co-produce the final framework. It is essential that applicants have previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and of using and evaluating assessment measures. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the development of new service initiatives though development of public consultations about the future of gender healthcare in the region.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of our team. The Assistant Psychologist role is a vital part of our plan to continually improve the service that we provide. We have a wide variety of clinical and patient facing opportunities to offer as experience and to develop the successful candidate in line with their goals for future training. The post offers opportunities to work in a national service and to network and learn from the other services across the UK.
