Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Social Worker to work on Beadnell Mother and Baby Unit. We would like to recruit a Social Worker who is flexible, responsive, motivated, well organised and adaptable.

Ideally, we would like a Social Worker with some experience in both mental health and Children's Social Work.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Social Worker to work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team of a Mother and Baby Unit, with service users and other professionals to support care planning and delivery of care in complex cases for both mother and infant.

To provide specialist expertise and guidance to the wider multidisciplinary team on a range of social care interventions, which acknowledge the health and social context of women under the care of the Mother and Baby Unit.

To plan and implement a range of evidence based social interventions complimenting a biopsychosocial approach to care, with a focus on families, wellbeing and recovery to enhance the lives of mothers, children, families and carers.

To manage self and practice in accordance with the Social Work England, professional standards - recognising professional limitations,

demonstrating ability to practice within ethical and legal frameworks with clear understanding of service users, carer's and their statutory rights.

To support, supervise and contribute to the professional development of members of staff across the service, as a mentor and educator of

students and newly qualified staff from a range of disciplines.

To offer expert advice and guidance to the team on both children and adult safeguarding concerns, including initiating referrals, writing reports and

representing the perinatal service at child protection conferences and other relevant meetings.

Essential

  • Certificate of qualification in Social Work/ Diploma or Degree in Social Work. E.g. DipSW , BA/BSc/MSc Social work
  • Current registration with Social Work, England
  • A record of continuing professional development (CPD)

Desirable

  • Post registration experience or qualification relevant to forensic/ mental health/LD pathway.
  • Experience of teaching

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to Partnership working both multi-agency and multi-disciplinary.
  • Experience working with A Family Approach to safeguarding.
  • Has extensive experience in Child Protection Proceedings and relevant legal frameworks to be able to advise and consult
