Job summary

The CBT service as part of the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies is seeking to appoint a part time (0.8 WTE) 8b Psychological Therapist / Psychologist.

Are you an experienced, accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist who is interested in developing your expertise and experience in a CBT service that works with high levels of complexity in a trauma informed way?

Are you interested in helping shape future developments in a tertiary care specialist CBT Centre?

If so, we would welcome hearing from you! Our CBT centre is part of a wider Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies, and we are looking for someone who can flex and adapt their CBT experience to work with complexity across a range of disorders.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified Psychologists and Psychological Therapists keen to take their next career steps in a well-established service.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of the role would include developing innovative treatment interventions across a range of disorders as well as leading on managing our clinical referrals across the pathway and deliver supervision and training within the trust and beyond.

Interest in and knowledge of research would be an advantage as would culturally sensitive practices.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society.
  • HCPC registered practitioner psychologist

Desirable

  • Qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Knoweledge and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post qualification experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
  • Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead.
  • Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological therapy training to a range of professional groups.
  • Substantial experience of providing clinical supervision.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. Experience of professional management. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. Record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books. NTW/GenericPCP/NJ/1550 in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the community pathway, e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities.
