Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Northumberland's Emotional Wellbeing Support Team (NEWST) located in Northumberland's Children Social Care, offering and developing a specialist child and adolescent mental health service that provides support and understanding for 'systems' around children and young people.
NEWST is part of a wider provision of children and young peoples mental health services delivered by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS foundation trust (CNTW). We work hard to support the understanding of a child or young persons presentation in the context of their lived experience as reflected in the Integrated Care Framework.
The team currently consists of specialist practitioners, team manager (from CSC) and Clinical manager (from CNTW).
Main duties of the job
As a senior clinician you will offer leadership on the development of clinical activity and offer clinical oversight through clinical supervision and case discussion.
You will be expected to offer (and support colleagues to offer) advice and guidance, consultations/formulations, training, scaffolding, reflective practice and support CPD opportunities.
You will be supported to have opportunities for research and service evaluations to support the understanding of the impact that NEWST is having towards Northumberland County Council Children's Social Care colleagues becoming more Trauma Informed resulting in children and young peoples needs being understood and met.
You will have experience of working within complex health and social care systems and be keen to support the collaboration between agencies, whilst holding the young person in mind.
You will have experience of supporting the development of New Services, offering understanding of the challenges and successes that change can bring as well as the ability to undertake reviews/audits that reflect the impact of service delivery.
You will be invited to be part of our supportive psychological therapies network who meet on a regular basis which provides opportunities for audit, research and CPD. We also have close links with local universities to invite opportunities for students.
In this role you will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

NEWST works collaboratively with Multi-disciplinary agencies involved in a young person's care. These agencies include Children's Social Care (CSC), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) / Children and Young People's Service (CYPS), Youth Justice Services (YJS), education and other agencies involved within a young person's care team.
This approach is intended to promote stability, resilience and confidence in the system around a young person, thus enabling the young people with complex needs to be thrive.

- An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification/Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society.
- Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma or masters in a High Intensity clinical modality).
- Member of an appropriate professional body.
