Job responsibilities

To be responsible for the specialist assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of complex physiotherapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of mental health and / or Neurological conditions.

To triage and prioritise physiotherapy referrals in order to implement effective and timely caseload management.

To provide on-going specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment using evidence based practice.

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing.To facilitate the delivery of physiotherapy student education within the clinical setting.

Participate in service improvement and assist with the implementation of specific changes to practice and contribute to service protocols.

To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.To provide clinical supervision, support, teaching and leadership to staff and contribute to in service training.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
• State registration with HCPC.
• Further relevant post qualifying training.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

• experience of working within a MDT
• knowledge of evidence based practice and implementation within physiotherapy services
• Have substantive post qualifying experience
• To be able to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning skills in the development of specialist treatment programmes

Desirable

• Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
• Knowledge and experience of involving service users/ carers in evaluation/ planning and monitoring of services
• Leadership training

Skills and Competencies

Essential

• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Ability to organise own caseload in a flexible manner
• Ability to supervise and delegate tasks to a physiotherapy assistant and /or students
• Ability to use IT systems and apply these skills
• Highly developed communication skills
• Ability to adapt within a changing environment.

Desirable

• Experience of working with older people
• Knowledge of a range of mental health conditions
