Job summary
We are excited to be able to offer a new post within the Northumberland Children and Young People's service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a passion for working with children, young people and their families.
The post is working into our mental health and learning disabilities pathway so skills and interest in both learning disabilities and mental health would be beneficial. The role will involve assessment, formulation and intervention within this pathway as well as support and supervisions for other colleagues in the pathway. There will be scope for work into both parts of the pathway so this post will offer a lot of variety and development opportunities.
This is a fixed term position and would be an ideal post for a newly qualified clinician (applications from trainees in their last year of training would be welcomed) or a more experienced Band 7 Clinical Psychologist who would like to expand on their CYPS experience and subsequently move into an 8a role. You will receive regular supervision and support from the psychology team as well as the clinical leads, managers and the wider team.
We have a supportive psychological practitioners network (which includes clinical and counselling psychologists, family therapists, psychological therapists, art therapy and child psychotherapy) that meets on a regular basis that provides opportunities for audit, research and CPD.
Main duties of the job
As a core team member you will be involved in the specialised assessment, formulation, treatment and review of children and young people in the mental health and learning disability pathway alongside colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.
You will have experience in evidence based interventions such as PBS, CBT, EMDR, DBT, Systemic Therapy and can adapt these for work with children and young people.
You will have the ability to work flexibly to manage the complexities relating to the needs of young people we work with.
You will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
Whilst primarily a clinical role you will also support the team by providing supervision, consultation and training.
About us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
