An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 7 Specialist Nurse - Non Medical Prescriber to work across both North Tyneside and Northumberland Recovery Partnership's (NTRP/NRP).
NTRP & NRP are dedicated services for anyone in North Tyneside and Northumberland, who is experiencing problems with drugs and/or alcohol. The North Tyneside service does not have any age restrictions therefore is able to provide support to those of all ages. Northumberland is an adult, 18+, service.
We believe recovery from addiction and substance misuse is possible for everyone, and we're here to help you achieve it. Our aim is to make recovery a reality in North Tyneside and Northumberland - whether you're dealing with problematic drug and/or alcohol use or helping support others that are.
Main duties of the job
Essential criteria to have a non medical prescribing qualification
The post holder would have relevant knowledge and experience of Addictions. In-depth knowledge and understanding of assessment and treatment of addiction and have a clear understanding of the NICE guidelines.
work across both North Tyneside and Northumberland conducting prescribing assessments and offering prescribing support:
- Titrating new patients onto OST medication including Buvidal. Titrating existing patients and continuation prescribing for those already on a prescription
- Prescribing for alcohol detoxifications and relapse prevention
- Signing of prescriptions for key workers in a nurse led service
- To act as a point of contact for any prescribing issues
The post holder would be expected to provide clinical supervision and have leadership skills in order to support the wider teams
There would be an expectation of the post holder to support and lead in strategic prescribing reviews held in conjunction with the service user and/or carer and their key worker
The post holder would be expected to provide specialist advice and/or training (as appropriate) to external services with regarding to patient care and treatment, i.e. GP's, Hospital Admissions etc.
Service and Pathway development
The successful post holder will be expected to demonstrate strong commitment to high quality client care, good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate prioritisation of workload.
