Job summary
This Higher Assistant Psychologist post is part of an exciting new multi-agency initiative between Northumbria police, Northumbria Probation service (HMPPS), Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service and CNTW. The project, called Northumbria Stalking Intervention Project (NSIP,) aims to support the further development of robust responses to stalking behaviour in Northumbria (in the initial pilot) by provision of expert advice, via a Stalking Clinic service, to guide professional risk assessment and management activity, provision of training to professionals across a range of agencies and the development of evidence-informed interventions for those who have engaged in stalking behaviour.
Main duties of the job
This role involves the provision of support to qualified multi-agency professionals in the above activities (risk assessment and management, development and delivery of training to NHS, Police, probation and third sector partners, management and treatment intervention development) as well as the development of measurement and evaluation tools to identify the impact of these. The project has initial funding, via the probation service, for 12 months in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the initiative and the benefits of continued service delivery. The postholder will have the opportunity to engage with the wider CNTW secure care psychological services team which includes psychological therapists, clinical and forensic psychologists and which also supports training placements for these via local University courses.
About us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
Our medium secure in-patient mental health, learning disability and personality disorder psychological services recently moved to a newly purpose-built hospital (Sycamore) on the Northgate site in Morpeth which is also the current location of our low secure and rehabilitation services. This provides an integrated centre of excellence for those requiring secure mental health, learning disability and personality disorder services.
Psychological services are a core component in our MDT clinical model and the new hospital offers the team an opportunity to work across traditional service boundaries in an integrated way. We also provide a range of secure care services in the community and prison settings in the North East, often as part of well-established partnership projects with other agencies.
