Job summary
Applications are invited for the newly created role of Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist - Mobility Therapist within North East Drive Mobility (NEDM).
NEDM is a specialist service within Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust and is supported by ICB and the Department for Transport by annual grant funding. NEDM is part of the national coverage of Mobility Centres accredited by *Driving Mobility. Our main centre is based at Walkergate Park Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, with outreach services located in Cumbria and Teesside.
Reporting to the Mobility Team Manager and Clinical Lead, the Mobility Therapist will undertake highly specialised passenger, powered wheelchair/mobility scooter and child car seat assessments, providing advice and recommendations to people with physical and/or cognitive impairment.
*Driving Mobility is the UK wide network of Mobility Centres providing assessment, advice and information on all aspects of personal mobility. Driving Mobility is the umbrella organisation for all Accredited Mobility Centres. It ensures that there are common standards, promotes good practice, offers training and education, and works closely with organisations such as the Department for Transport, the DVLA and Motability.
Main duties of the job
To undertake highly specialised passenger, powered wheelchair/mobility scooter and child car seat assessments, providing advice and recommendations to people with physical and/or cognitive impairment.
To manage a caseload using client centred principles and an evidence-based approach in the assessment and evaluation of interventions.
The post holder will work as a motivating member of the team providing a comprehensive assessment, advice and information service, responsive to the needs of clients, members of the public, outside agencies and healthcare professionals.
To contribute to the development of North East Drive Mobility services by contributing to specific multi-disciplinary audit and research projects, including the development of integrated care pathways.
To provide specialist advice to other professionals within and outside the Trust with regard to the specialist area.
Be a car driver with a valid driving license holder.
