Job summary

Our Estates Supervisors are integral to keeping our grounds and buildings in the best condition possible, so the NHS can supply essential services to our communities. You will be working with the Estates Officer, managing and directing our work force and external contractors to keep our facilities in good working order. As part of this managerial role, you will also need to provide health and safety supervision as well as undertaking risk assessments for your staff to make sure they are protected in their tasks. You will need to carry out inspections to ensure expectations are being met in regards to work being undertaken and conditions are maintained. We are looking for someone who can provide great communication, excellent management skills and cares about keeping our NHS facilities operating at their best.

Main duties of the job

To supervise a direct labour force (DLF) and contractors carrying out the operation and maintenance of the systems listed below. All work to be undertaken in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the engineering services, building fabric and infrastructure of the hospital to provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.o Mechanical / Plumbing & Electrical engineeringo Building and Joineryo Paintingo Grounds and Gardenso Managing Contractors engaged on any of the above work activities

Essential

  • The post holder must have completed a recognised and registered apprenticeship, with a relevant City and Guilds/NVQ 3 certificate or equivalent, have relevant post qualification experience, or a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in a building, building services or electrical related subject.

Knowledge and Experience

  • The post holder will have previous general experience in service, maintenance, and repair of all general building and engineering trades. This will typically involve a good working knowledge of the following key areas: - o Mechanical & Electrical Building Services o Building Fabric o Health and Safety Legislation and risk assessments o Pressure Regulations o Legionella and Water Management Legislation o Asbestos and Hazardous/General Waste Regulations o HTM's and HBN's o Emergency Procedures and Systems
  • Must demonstrate good understanding of health & safety.
