Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Psychological Therapist to join our North Cumbria Adult Eating Disorder Service (NCAEDS). We provide assessment and intervention for adults who have a difficult relationship with food including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Avoidant Restrictive Intake Disorder (ARFID) .
The post holder will be a qualified CBT-ED, MANTRA and SSCM therapist. You will work mostly into the Avoidant Restrictive Intake Disorder (ARFID) and FREED pathway which are newly developing pathways.
The post holder will support with providing training, scaffolding and consultation to colleagues.
This is a county-wide service and therefore the base is flexible which will be discussed at interview (Beacon Unit, Penrith, Brookside Centre, Wigton or Lilly-hall Business Centre, Workington).
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in providing excellent treatment to people with eating disorders. Previous experience eating disorders experience would be welcome but is not essential as specialist training and support will be provided. The successful applicant will deliver highly specialised assessments and both individual and group therapies. The post holder will primarily work with adults, however opportunities will be available to work across the lifespan.
Working in an eating disorder service allows the development of skills in working with a number of comorbidities, including autism, depression and anxiety and personality disorders and we offer supervision and training to support this.
The post holder is expected to work well within a team setting however should be able deliver an autonomous service as part of the role, operating within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust's eating disorder service policies and procedures.

- An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health and Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma).
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent e.g. BABCP registered CBT practitioner. or Member of an appropriate professional body

- Experience of model specific psychological assessment and therapy with clients across a wide range of care settings.

This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.
