Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Northumberland's Emotional Wellbeing Support Team (NEWST) located in Northumberland's Children Social Care, offering and developing a specialist child and adolescent mental health service that provides support and understanding for children and young people.
NEWST is part of a wider provision of children and young peoples mental health services delivered by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS foundation trust (CNTW). We work hard to support the understanding of a child or young persons presentation in the context of their lived experience as reflected in the Integrated Care Framework.
The team currently consists of specialist practitioners, speech and language therapist (NHC NHS), team manager (from CSC) and Clinical manager (from CNTW NHS).
Main duties of the job
As a senior clinician you will lead on and support the development of clinical activity within NEWST and offer clinical oversight.
You will be expected to offer (and support colleagues to offer) advice and guidance, consultations/formulations, training, scaffolding, reflective practice and support CPD opportunities.
You will be supported to have opportunities for research and evaluations to support the understanding of the impact that NEWST is having towards NCC becoming a Trauma Informed Organisation and children and young peoples needs being understood and met.
You will have experience for working with children and young people with complex presentations, mental health difficulties, learning difficulties and Neurodiverse presentations.
You will be passionate about the importance of Trauma Informed Care being at the centre of all NEWST do.
You will have experience of working within complex health and social care systems and be keen to support the collaboration between agencies, whilst holding the young person in mind.
You will be invited to be part of our supportive psychological therapies network (which includes clinical and counselling psychologists, psychological therapists, art therapist and child psychotherapist) that meets on a regular basis, providing opportunities for audit, research and CPD. We also have close links with the local Doctorate training courses and regularly have Trainees on placement.
About us
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
The aim of the NEWST provision is to ensure that children and young people's needs are understood and met within the context of the care system.
NEWST works collaboratively with Multi-disciplinary agencies involved in a young person's care. These agencies include Children's Social Care (CSC), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) / Children and Young People's Service (CYPS), Youth Justice Services (YJS), education (virtual school) and other agencies involved within a young person's care team.
This approach is intended to promote stability, resilience and confidence in the system around a young person, thus enabling the young people with complex needs to thrive.
