North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Respiratory & Sleep Physiologist to join our Cardio-Respiratory Department.
You will based at the Workington Diagnostic Centre (CDC) where we have brand new Pulmonary Function testing equipment but also rotate into the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality respiratory function testing and sleep diagnostics at the CDC.
We're looking for someone who is committed to providing safe, patient-centred care and who has experience in providing respiratory and sleep investigations and is looking to develop their clinical expertise.
Main duties of the job
Employ the highest standards of skills and knowledge in diagnostic testing, interpretation, reporting and treatments to achieve the best quality of patient care.
To perform and report routine and urgent lung function testing autonomously.
To perform and report/score home sleep studies
To counsel patients on use of CPAP, set-up CPAP therapy and manage follow up consultations in patients with OSA and OHS
Communicate complex information to patients, including those with learning disabilities.
Undertake staff competency assessment.
Develop, maintain and implement departmental policies and procedures for respiratory physiology, ensuring all policies and service developments are impact assessed in respect of equality requirements.
Planning and reviewing team workload
Update patient records, ensuring accurate data input into computerised systems.
Communicate results of investigations appropriately to other health workers, the patients and their relatives.
Undertake stock control, ensuring supplies are adequate and in date.
Act as a lead trainer for respiratory physiologists, specialist nurses and medical staff in lung function testing. This includes devising training plans, direct and indirect supervision of trainees.
Act as mentor or preceptor to less experienced staff as required.
