Job summary

We are excited to announce a rewarding opportunity to join the Logistics and Supply Chain team as a Materials Management Assistant at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, based at Cumberland infirmary, Carlisle.

Responsibilities for this role will encompass the precise and punctual ordering of both medical and non-medical supplies for the wards, departments, and theatres at Cumberland Infirmary.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the English language, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with computerised stock ordering systems such as Oracle, NHS Supply Chain (LOL/EDC), Ingenica or equivalent platforms. The ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines is essential.

The successful candidate should also exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Effective communication with colleagues at various organisational levels is a key component of this role. On-the-job training will be provided to support your success in this position.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the implementation and maintenance of a materials managed service, undertaking the day to day ordering activity on behalf of the customer. Replenishing goods at theatre and departmental level using bar code systems as appropriate.

Receive, check and put away deliveries ordered via the materials management service. Ensuring that items are rotated and do not exceed expiry dates, stored in the correct location and the store area left tidy.

The position requires physical effort often in confined spaces on a daily basis such as the manual handling of roll cages and unpacking of products on to the store room shelves.

Ensure discrepancies for returns and credits are processed timely and appropriately.

Carrying out quarterly reviews with appropriate ward/theatre/department leads, using system information to illustrate spending patterns identifying products and stock levels.

Keep all associated paper work regularly updated in line with code and location changes.

Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.

Provide cover for other Materials Management Assistants as identified by the Team Leader / Operational Supply Chain Manager.

Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instruction (SFIs) and policies.
