Senior Agile Research Delivery Team Clinical Research Practitioner

Job summary
- The post holder will be a member of the Agile Delivery Team based within the Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) North East & North Cumbria and will be responsible for implementing and co-ordinating specific research programmes. The post holder will contribute to the implementation and dissemination of research findings to inform practice, and policy and service development.
- The post holder will work collaboratively across local community, primary and secondary care services. Supported by the Agile Team Lead and Agile Team Manager, the post holder will be responsible for undertaking a broad range of research tasks associated with the programme.
- The post holder will deliver a portfolio of research and maintain associated records.
- The post holder will be responsible for implementing and managing the care for participants participating in the research studies. This will involve the correct identification and recruitment of participants, education and monitoring of trial participants and the timely collection and documentation of accurate data. Liaison with the local community, primary and secondary care facilities will be required.
- The post holder will have to travel between different locations including visiting participants in their own communities.
Main duties of the job
- Work independently to manage caseload of patients whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Establishes and maintains an excellent working relationship with colleagues and members of the research teams across community, primary and secondary care settings.
o Provide research information to patients and their relatives.
o Act as an expert resource and support to patients and their relatives, explaining practical aspects of clinical research.
o Ensure that the study-specific investigations are undertaken as required by the research protocol, to establish eligibility and safety to enter the study.
o Facilitate the informed consent process, in compliance with the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ensuring that the patient and relatives fully understand the nature of the research.
o Provide ongoing follow-up care whilst the patient is in the research study.
o Monitor treatment toxicity/side effects and ensure changes to treatment as required by the research protocol.
o Arrange collection of blood and any other research samples required as part of the clinical research and ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens in conjunction with local clinical and nursing teams, phlebotomy and laboratory staff.
