INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES ONLY

The Portering/Security & Transport Manager will be based at the West Cumberland Hospital. Their role forms part of the wider 24/7 Facilities Management Department which is responsible for all elements of core function of an ancillary and specialist nature. The Portering/Security and Transport Manager will manage, support and be hands on to give guidance to their teams so that they can provide the support that is needed to maintain the flow of all inpatient and outpatient services.

They will manage the Security and logistics across the two main hospital sites, several community sites, GP surgeries and several stand-alone NHS units across the county. They will Manage and be responsible for a large fleet of Trust vehicles that work out of both the WCH and the CIC sites. The Trust Logistic services (fleet vehicles) cover a wide range of services 7 days a week within the NCIC portfolio and sites externally to the organisation. They will conducted regular security reviews, develop strategies, responses and practical solutions to all elements of site security provisions with the wider security team, communicate complex information. Conduct risk assessments utilising dynamic problem solving techniques to ensure Trust policies and procedures are met and maintained.

Main duties of the job

Directly line manage and lead all the Portering/Security and transport service and staff across the trust sites, some works will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions over a 24/7 period 365 days a year

Complete weekly staff rotas for all staff, allocating duties according to grade, competence and availability

Deploy staff effectively to ensure appropriate coverage, adjusting rotas as required to compensate for absences at short notice, again this can be over a 24/7 period and the Portering manager could be called in to work to support.

Release additional support services to internal and external departments, as and when required and often at short notice, without compromising existing staffing levels

Manage, direct and coordinate transport services on a daily basis.

In the event that a vehicles needs returning to the company for servicing etc the Portering Manager will support the teams by driving the vehicles to the allocated garages.

Oversee vehicle weekly checks which can see them exposed to vehicle fumes and chemicals while out doing these vehicle checks.

Managing all vehicle issues and providing efficient collection and delivery of Hospital goods, pharmacy, pathology, medical records and other vital supplies to wider healthcare providers (GP/Community Sites etc.).
